Gulf of Naples

Procida - One of the most charming islands in the Gulf of Naples, Procida is known for its pastel-colored waterfront, traditional fishing villages, and wonderfully unhurried atmosphere. Explore Marina Corricella, a picturesque harbor lined with colorful houses and family-run trattorias, or wander the narrow streets of Terra Murata, the island’s historic hilltop settlement. Spend the afternoon swimming in the clear waters of Chiaiolella or enjoying a long lunch overlooking the harbor.

Ischia - The largest island in the Gulf of Naples, Ischia combines volcanic landscapes, lush gardens, thermal springs, and traditional Mediterranean villages. Visit Ischia Ponte and the magnificent Castello Aragonese, a historic fortress rising dramatically from a rocky islet connected to the mainland by a stone causeway. Other highlights include the charming fishing village of Sant’Angelo, with its pedestrian lanes and waterfront cafés, and the island’s natural hot springs and thermal gardens.

Ventotene - A small volcanic island located between Ischia and Ponza, Ventotene is prized for its relaxed atmosphere, clear waters, and rich maritime history. The island’s colorful Roman harbor, Porto Romano, was carved into the volcanic rock and remains one of its most distinctive features. Spend time swimming in secluded coves, exploring the historic village, or visiting the nearby protected waters of the Ventotene and Santo Stefano Marine Protected Area.

Amalfi - Once a powerful maritime republic, Amalfi is a historic coastal town nestled between steep mountains and the sea. Visit the striking Cathedral of Saint Andrew in the main piazza, explore the town’s narrow lanes, and stop at a traditional café for a taste of the region’s famous lemon specialties. From Amalfi, it is also possible to explore the nearby Valle delle Ferriere, a lush nature reserve with waterfalls and historic paper mills.

Capri - Famous for its dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise waters, and elegant piazzas, Capri is one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic islands. Explore the Faraglioni sea stacks by boat, swim beneath the island’s towering cliffs, or visit the Blue Grotto when sea conditions permit. Ashore, wander the streets of Capri town or head to Anacapri for a quieter atmosphere, beautiful views, and the scenic chairlift to Monte Solaro. (Note: overnighting off Capri is not permitted)

Sorrento - Perched above the Bay of Naples, Sorrento offers sweeping views across the water toward Mount Vesuvius and the surrounding coastline. Explore the historic center, where narrow streets are filled with artisan workshops, cafés, and shops selling locally produced limoncello and ceramics. Marina Grande, the town’s old fishing harbor, is an especially rewarding place to enjoy fresh seafood and experience a more traditional side of Sorrento.

Ponza - The largest of the Pontine Islands, Ponza is known for its rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and wonderfully clear water. Explore the colorful harbor of Porto di Ponza, where pastel buildings frame a lively waterfront lined with restaurants and cafés. Highlights around the island include Chiaia di Luna, a spectacular crescent-shaped beach beneath towering cliffs, and the natural rock formations and swimming spots around Cala Feola and the Piscine Naturali.

Palmarola - Often considered one of the most beautiful and unspoiled islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea, Palmarola is a wild volcanic landscape of towering rock formations, sea caves, and crystalline water. Its dramatic coastline is best explored by boat, with opportunities to swim and snorkel in secluded coves and beneath sculpted cliffs. Weather permitting, we may anchor near the famous Cala del Porto, where simple seasonal beach restaurants and fishermen’s shelters offer a rare glimpse of a quieter, more elemental Mediterranean.

Positano - Clinging to the steep slopes of the Amalfi Coast, Positano is renowned for its cascading pastel houses, winding stairways, and spectacular seaside setting. Come ashore to explore boutiques, artisan shops, and cafés, or spend time on Spiaggia Grande, the town’s main beach, with views back toward the colorful village. For a quieter experience, visit Fornillo Beach or enjoy an evening aperitivo overlooking the sea as the village lights begin to glow.

The final itinerary is at the discretion of your captain who will take all the parameters into consideration before confirming the route.

The Gulf of Naples and surrounding coastline offer an extraordinary variety of islands, historic seaside towns, secluded anchorages, and coastal landscapes, and the itinerary is simply too vast to experience every location in a single week. We will do our best to see as much as possible, adapting our route along the way to make the most of the conditions and the time available.

Additional Coastal Villages and Anchorages

Beyond the major destinations, the Amalfi Coast is filled with smaller villages, quiet beaches, and hidden corners that can make some of the most memorable moments of a sailing journey. Depending on the weather and our route, we may explore places such as Cetara, a traditional fishing village famous for its anchovies; Vietri sul Mare, known for its colorful ceramics; or the quieter coves and beaches around the Sorrentine Peninsula. These spontaneous stops allow us to experience the coastline at a more relaxed pace, discovering places that are best reached by sea.

This region rewards flexibility, and some of the best experiences may come from lingering an extra night in a beautiful harbor, discovering a secluded swimming spot, or changing course to take advantage of favorable sailing conditions. With so many extraordinary islands, villages, and anchorages to explore, the goal is not to rush through a checklist but to experience the character of the Gulf of Naples and the Amalfi Coast as fully as possible during our week on the water.

Nerano and Marina del Cantone - At the tip of the Sorrentine Peninsula, Nerano and Marina del Cantone offer a more relaxed coastal atmosphere away from the busiest towns. Marina del Cantone is known for its pebble beach, clear water, and excellent seafood restaurants, including local specialties featuring fresh pasta and zucchini. The surrounding coastline also provides opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the coves near the protected Punta Campanella Marine Area.

Punta Campanella and the Sorrentine Peninsula - Marking the western entrance to the Gulf of Salerno, Punta Campanella is a rugged headland of rocky cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation, and exceptionally clear water. The surrounding marine protected area offers beautiful opportunities for snorkeling and coastal exploration, with underwater landscapes and secluded swimming spots. Depending on conditions, we may explore the coastline by tender, anchor in a sheltered bay, or enjoy views across the water toward Capri.
